New Member Tips

Welcome to Young Living! If you have been with us a while, keep reading. This is for you too. I’m getting close to my second anniversary with YL, and I’m still learning things, often the hard way. My goal is to give you a leg up and save you from making some of the mistakes I made. The following is a list of common mistakes or confusion for new members. Enjoy! Commission checks are issued once a month on the 20th for the previous month’s results. Virtual Office is available free of charge for all members. If you have a question, it will be answered here. There are all kinds of resources available as well. Make sure to check here or with your up line before opting for a call or live chat. Sponsor/Enroller When signing someone up, you will want to be both unless you want to help build up someone in your down line. In that case, you are still the enroller and your down line is the sponsor. Bonuses The kit bonus ($25) is available if you sign someone up with a premium starter kit as long as you have a 50pv order in for that month. They must order the kit in the same month they open the account. You also need 50pv to get fast start bonuses. You get 25% for the three months beginning when their account is created (not order placed). These 2 bonuses are paid to the enroller. Compression is a benefit offered in which a level 2 or lower person moves up because the person above them does not make a qualifying order. This is available for the unilevel commission (paid to sponsor). Ex: Sally’s OGV is 500pv, but she does not make a qualifying order of 100pv. Sally is in your first level. Guess who gets the check? You. Rising Star Team Bonus Before you start discouraging people from making qualifying orders, remember that compression only applies to unilevel commissions. In order to get the RST bonus, you must have 100ER, and you need 3 people on your level 1 to have 100 ER and 300 OGV each. This will give you 1 share, which is around $50. Essential Rewards Always check the day before it ships to make sure items haven’t gone out of stock. You need to select reduced shipping. Don’t let your points expire! When cashing in, you can only use them on items with a PV = $ value. Promotions These come automatically with qualifying orders. PV is sometimes different than $ amount. If you get a voucher, they usually expire in 3 months. You’ll find the number under “orders shipped”. They are applied at checkout for new members. If you get extra ER points, these will be given the following month. Promotions can only be earned in a single order. Team Structure It makes sense to help build up legs, but don’t be too hasty. You need 6 legs in order to get all the RST bonus shares, which will also set you up for Royal Crown Diamond. Executive and Silver require 2 strong legs; Gold requires 3. Try to motivate people on your first level, and don’t build deep until you have at least 2 serious legs. Policy We cannot market items as cures for disease. Many graphics out there are in violation. Don’t use them. The Desk Reference is a must have for all members. Educate yourself! EODR is available from Life Science Publishers. Also, homemade items with YL oils cannot be sold as YL products. They can only be sold if they are different than anything available from the catalog. Ex: bug spray is OK to make and sell as long as you keep the YL logo off.

The Home Party: let’s talk details.

I’ve talked about this before. I hit Star in one month by asking friends to host spa parties. I was alone, away from my YL uplines, new to network marketing or sales of any kind. I was making it up as I went. I lost a lot of people because I thought paper sign up sheets were silly, and that people would just go home and sign up online.

So today, I will follow up on what really works and what you need for a successful home party.

1. The Home Experience Kit
You can also piece it together, but this gave me party ideas, invitations, thank yous, brochures, and the all-important enrollment forms. Budget buster: just buy the forms.
2. The Everyday Oils Collection
This will be your curriculum for the class. Share how you have successfully used each one. Pass around; let people try them.
3. A Diffuser
Have a great smelling oil diffusing throughout the party. People recommend Abundance, as it tends to bring more business.
4. Information
Bring whatever product info you have, and display it on a table for people to peruse.
5. Essential Oils Desk Reference
Remember, you cannot recommend specific oils for medical conditions. Just have them look it up in the reference book. (www.lifesciencepublishers.com)
6. An Activity
Let them soak feet, scrub hands, or make something to take home. Ideas abound online.
7. A Gift
Make sure to give your host a gift. If they decide to purchase a Premium Starter Kit, you could also place other party goers under their sponsorship. You would still be the enroller and earn Fast Start bonuses.
8. Merchandise
Don’t worry about a big inventory. You want to encourage people to purchase the PSK anyway. You could bring some popular oils or inexpensive extras like lip balm, hand Sanitizer, or NinXia Red pouches.
9. Food
Make sure there are healthy snacks and drinks available.
10. Sign up
Book your next party from this group, so you can continue to make new contacts.
11. Product Catalogs
Bring one for each person to keep. Go through the first few pages with your presentation. They needs to see the farms and the seed to seal process. Show them the starter kits. Tell them that if they enroll 3 people, they will get a check to cover their kit. Show them Essential Rewards and encourage them to sign up for that as well. Attach a business card and enrollment form to each catalog. Encourage people to fill it out while you are passing around the oils. Tell them one lucky winner will get to take their oils home today. Have one or two PSKs on hand to give to people at the party who sign up. The host gets first dibs. You could draw for the other. The way it works is: whoever takes the kit home will be signed up with your address. Then the new kit will go to you to replace it. Since you are signing everyone up, you can easily put their own address in after you receive the kit.

Don’t forget, your upline wants to help. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or just ask them to be there for moral support.

Have fun!

The Essential Oils Lifestyle

I’m hanging out on the Oregon coast with my family on a much needed vacation.  I didn’t bring all my oils with me, but I brought my Everyday Oils and Stress Away, NingXia Red, and the other 9 oils I recently mentioned to round out my top 20.

They have been a lifesaver.  Ningxia Red and Digize have completely eliminated the intestinal problems that used to inevitably accompany road trips.  Peace and Calming helped us keep our sanity in the car.
I could go on, but my main observation here is how much I have embraced the Essential Oils lifestyle and how superior it is.  I’m downright spoiled, actually, but if spoiled = healthy, then bring it on.

I have pretty successfully detoxified my home. After using some antibacterial hand soap on our trip, I got a rash.  I should have brought some natural, YL soap.  Thankfully I did bring myrrh, lavender, and copaiba for the irritation and inflammation. I guess I’ll just wash my hands with my YL shampoo from now on.  Thieves waterless hand purifyer has also been a lifesaver, especially at those sketchy gas stations.

Embracing the YL lifestyle means eliminating synthetic products from your home, medicine cabinet, and pantry when at all possible. I’m not used to the synthetics anymore, so I am functioning in a healthier, natural state.  I’ve been extremely healthy, happy, and have my allergies under control.  So, yes, it is a good thing.  Many synthetic products can cause cancer. I don’t want to be desensitized for that!

It is not expensive to embrace this lifestyle.  Here is a simple 4 step plan:

1.  Go to http://www.youngliving.org/hollydoodle2013 and order the Premium Starer Kit.

2. Make a list of household products you should replace with YL- vitamins, shampoo, and Thieves dental care and cleaning products, for example. Join Essential Rewards and begin replacing these products by spending at least $50 per month on your health.

3. Take advantage of the promotions. If you order at least 190PV in a single transaction, you will automatically receive at least 2 oils for free. If you combine ER with the promotions, you will quickly be able to stock up on YL products. Since I’ve been on ER over a year, I get 20% back in free products with my monthly order. I usually place a 300PV ER order in order to qualify for all the promotions. In May, after placing that order, I got Aroma Seiz, oregano, Life 5, and Lavaderm for free. Don’t forget, as a wholesale member I always save 24%. As part of the promotion, I also got an extra 25 ER points. Adding those to my 60 ER points (20% of my ER order), I now have 85 PV in free products to cash in whenever I want. That’s a lot for my money. And don’t forget how much you are saving on doctor visits and medication.

4. Tell a friend. I get a check in the mail every month to pay for my products because I tell my friends about them. You don’t have to be a weird sales person. Just share because you care.

It is as simple as that. Are you ready?

Unpacking the Premium Starter Kit

Premium Starter Kit

If you have been following me at all or happen to know me in person, you know I am really into these oils and that there’s something called a Premium Starter Kit I think everyone should have the privilege of owning. Today I would like to give a quick overview all in one place of what comes in this kit and how I have personally benefitted from it.

The Premium Starter Kit automatically comes with a wholesale membership. There are no further obligations as a wholesale member. You will simply be able to start purchasing the best essential oils in the world at 24% off retail price. When purchasing the starter kit, you will be asked for your social security number because you will be eligible to participate in the compensation plan.

The Premium Starter Kit includes the Home Diffuser, 10 individual samples (2 lemon, 2 Thieves, 2 Peppermint, 2 Lavender, and 2 Peace and Calming), 2 NingXia Red individual serving pouches, Stress Away Essential Oil blend, a roller fitment, a complete catalog, product usage information, and the Everyday Oils Collection.

Essential oils can be used topically, internally (when labeled “supplement”), and aromatically. For inhalation, nothing beats a good diffuser. We keep one going almost constantly at home. I’ve also been known to diffuse in my classroom. The Home Diffuser is a huge perk. The retail price for this item alone is $98.68.

I love the samples. They are so great to keep on hand for those times my friends start to sneeze, complain of a headache, experience anxiety, have a cold coming on, or have a hoarse voice. I’ll just pass them out to help people, which I love to do. You may not be interested in starting a business, but when those friends decide to order more, you may just get a thank you check in the mail from Young Living. Sounds like a win win to me.

NingXia Red is amazing. Enjoy those samples yourself. Find out how yummy it is and skip that cup of coffee. When I drink NR (as in as often as I can get my hands on it), I notice an improvement in my hair and nails, increased energy, elevated mood, and better digestion. It contains wolfberry puree from China’s Ningxia province, essential oils, and vitamin-rich whole fruits such as raspberries, blueberries, and pomegranates.

Stress Away is heavenly. It is a great oil to keep on hand with the roller fitment. Just roll it on as needed. It lives up to its name, I can tell you. Cedarwood is an amazing grounding oil, which helps with focus and combats negativity. And I mean, who wouldn’t get a boost from smelling like lime and vanilla? It also contains copaiba, ocotea, and lavender.

The Everyday Oils Collection contains 10 (5 ml) bottles of essential oils. Here is how they have benefitted my family and me.
Joy contains bergamot, lemon, palmarosa, ylang ylang, mandarin, rose, geranium, jasmine, Roman chamomile, and coriander. It puts a spring in my step. I apply topically right over my heart. Thanks to rose in particular, this oil has a very high frequency. This is no doubt part of my secret for staying happy and healthy even when surrounded by illness and stress.
Valor is my confidence blend. It’s a toss up between Valor and Stress Away, but I love how it smells. These oils are not to be confused with perfume, but I’ll tell you it is nice to smell good while enjoying all the benefits. I also use Valor to relax sore muscles. I like to roll it on or add it to Epsom salt for a relaxing bath. I put it on my jaw before bed to eliminate teeth grinding. I put it on my spine to help with alignment. Valor helps with physical and emotional balancing. I also apply to my wrists and hold them together to gain balance. Valor is a blend of spruce, frankincense, and blue tansy.
Thieves is a university tested blend that will combat and kill bacteria, mold and viruses. It is great to diffuse during cold season. I put it on my son’s feet when he starts getting sick. It stops nighttime coughing immediately. I take internally when sick or exposed to illness. I like to put a drop on my tongue or drink in a tea. Thieves contains clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus. I have whitened my teeth with Thieves, used it for healthier gums (just ask my dentist), and used it as a powerful household cleaner.
PanAway reminds me of Icy Hot except it’s all natural and beneficial. You get the tingly feeling, but it is not just a temporary relief. It will actually help the body heal. I use it for pain, bruising, and irritation. It is very powerful against muscle tension and headaches. This blend contains wintergreen, clove, helichrysum, and peppermint.
Purification is my go to for skin issues. Acne, bug bites, and cuts and scrapes are all covered with Purification. Even my teens use it for acne, and let me tell you, they don’t blindly take my advice. I used it on my dog to keep ticks away in rural Tennessee. I spray it on to keep mosquitos away. It is also a great deodorizer. Diffuse it to freshen the air. It smells like ginger to me but contains lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca (tea tree), myrtle, and citronella.
Peace and Calming lives up to its name and smells delicious. It contains tangerine, ylang ylang, blue tansy, orange, and patchouli. We use it for anxiety and focus. ADHD anyone? I diffuse it when people are stressed. It is also helpful for insomnia. Apply on wrists, at brain stem, on chakra points (forehead is a good one), or on the bottom of the feet. The feet are an excellent entry point into all your cells by way of nerve endings.
Lavender is great for allergies, sleep, anxiety, and laundry care. I also use it for first aid. It goes on the Bandaid and heals skin very quickly.
Peppermint is a wonderful pick-me-up. It keeps me alert while driving. I keep some in my purse to freshen breath or rub on my temples when fatigue or head tension kicks in. It’s just awesome, what can I say? Also, great for nausea. Make a tea or rub on your belly for a quick turn around.
Lemon is another workhorse. It’s my favorite water flavor. Instead of filling up on unhealthy drinks, I drink lemon water and enjoy the uplifting and detoxing benefits of citrus oils. It smells fantastic in the diffuser and also helps with fatigue and focus. Lemon will clean anything too, at least anything I’ve tried. Imagine how that works in your body! For a hoarse throat, make a tea or rub some right on your neck.
Frankincense is another reason the Premium Starter Kit is such a fantastic value. I use it for pain and to kick illnesses quickly. Most notably, I used Frankincense along with the natural progesterone serum, Progessence Plus to completely eliminate my fibroid problem.

Do you have a kit yet? If so, please share your stories with us. If not, you can order it right here: http://www.youngliving.org/hollydoodle2013.

Enjoy!

Affording Oils

One thing I often hear is, “I would love to use essential oils, but I’m not sure how to work them into my budget.” When I joined Young Living, I was raising 5 kids and working very part time while my husband was a full time grad student. We were living on scholarships, support raising, and pieced together side jobs. I am not making this up. So, can you afford essential oils? YES! Yes you can.

My strategy was to immediately jump into the business side of things. I thought I would have some fun with friends by doing spa parties so I could start receiving checks to pay for my oils. It is not rocket science. Mission accomplished. I started out with the Premium Starter Kit and used those Everyday Oils and the Diffuser as demos at my parties. I used the oils so I could share my experiences with them. It is all very simple and fun. It’s called jumping in with both feet. I highly recommend it. No regrets. Another benefit with this approach is tax write offs.

A practical reason you can afford essential oils is that you can replace items you are already purchasing. I wanted to try a natural approach to my fibroid problem, so I went off the Pill and started using Progessence Plus serum instead. The bottle lasted over 6 months and was a lot cheaper than what I was spending on the Pill. I also traded yucky side effects for wonderful happy effects. It was a beautiful thing. I no longer have a fibroid problem. I’ve had a similar experience with Thieves oil – one little bottle instead of countless trips to the doctor and medication. We stay so much healthier with Thieves. It SAVES us money

There are some people who just don’t want to get into business. They want oils for personal use only thankyouverymuch. I get it. That is a perfectly valid choice. What to do in that situation? I still recommend the Premium Starter Kit because you might as well get started with the top oils Young Living has to offer at the best possible price. And if you really don’t have $150 for the Premium Starter Kit? Try the Basic Starter Kit. You will only have a few samples at first, but you will have your wholesale membership. It is only $40. Once you join, go for a $50 per month Essential Rewards order. Try something new every month and enjoy the ER benefits of reduced shipping and free product points.

Should you go on Amazon and just look for the cheapest prices on essential oils? Absolutely not! Don’t gamble with your health. Most “essential oils” on the market are merely perfume filled with synthetics and just a small percentage of the real stuff. Young Living is the real deal, and you CAN afford it.

An Idea

Points Game Graphic

Here’s an idea for building your business. I maintain that the best way to build is the old fashioned way: talking to people in person and letting them experience the oils. In fact, I recently listened to a conference call with Adam Green, one of Young Living’s youngest and most successful business builders. He shared that Young Living stands apart from other network marketing companies because the products are so strong, we can be product driven. In other words, we don’t need to try to sell people on selling a business. We can tell people how life changing the products are, share our stories, let them try, and before we know it they will be doing the same. We are a community passionate about these products. Period. It’s not just another way to make money.

In my first year with Young Living, I shared the passion with many people via a Facebook group. I also taught several successful spa parties. A few people from Facebook have signed up after learning about the oils online. But most of those people met with me first to try the products out. I knew all this going in but still decided to do 2 simultaneous online Facebook parties. I’m an ideas person. I like to mix it up and try new things. I’m also in a very busy season in life. I’ve had to take a break from parties until I get to the end of the school year. So I thought I would give this idea a try.

Here is a copy of the party incentive I used. I asked a friend to host. Their job was simply to add friends to the group. In exchange, I offered them either an enrollment voucher or a $20 credit on a customer account. So each party set me back $40. I had two vouchers, so as long as I got at least one sign up from each party, the most I would be out would be the additional $20 for each party prize. I then posted several intro to oils graphics. These are readily available online. The parties ran for about 2 weeks. I’m just now closing them. They were not wildly successful, but there is a lot to be said for planting seeds. I am now Facebook friends with a couple of new people. This is a brand new idea for most people, so they need time to think it all through. My hosts and winners are still thinking through their orders and whether or not to become wholesale members. It looks like two will definitely join, possibly more. The nice thing about the credit is that people will usually spend more than that, so the commission will bring a good return on that investment.

I told some of you I would report back on how it went, so here you go. Doing something is better than doing nothing. #1 tip for growing your business? Keep business cards and samples in your purse. Share freely.

Exciting Changes

Nitro kit

Check out the new starter kit! You now have another option when enrolling as a Young Living Wholesale Member. The new kit has all the same oils as the Premium Starter Kit. The difference is that this kit has two boxes of Ningxia Nitro instead of the Home Diffuser. Ningxia Nitro is your ultimate healthy energy boost. Think Ningxia Red juice on steroids. I love the taste of Ningxia Red, but this stuff tastes even better. It is conveniently packaged for on the go lifestyles. Use it to combat brain fog during a long day, while studying, or driving, and to get some energy without any harmful side effects.

Stay oily, my friends.

Why Essential Rewards?

If you have been looking into Young Living products or you are a new customer or distributor, you may be wondering what Essential Rewards is all about.  Here are all the details.
1.  It is optional. There is never a monthly obligation with your Young Living membership.
2. It is an auto-ship program.  You may choose which items (50PV or product value minimum) you would like, and they will automatically ship on the same day each month.
3. You can get different products every month. There are so many wonderful products to try, I change my order every month to try new things.
4. Change your shipping date.  You can do this too.
5.  No fee to join or quit.  Don’t worry. Young Living is your friend.
6.  Skip one month a year without losing your benefits.

Hopefully you now understand what ER is and are no longer worried that it is an evil plot to drain your savings.  Quite the contrary.  Distributors already save 24% off retail.  ER is a rewards program which puts even more products and savings in your pocket.  Here’s how:

1.  Earn free products
*For orders between 50 and 99PV, earn 5% back in free products.
*For orders of 100PV or more, get 10% back your first 6 months on ER, 15% back for the next 6 months, and 20% back after a year in the program.
2. Save on shipping.  Shipping rates are significantly reduced.  You can save a bundle especially on heavy items.
3.  Get exclusive deals. ER only bundles are available for cheaper than wholesale prices.
4.  Never miss a paycheck. In order to tap into all the compensation opportunities, 100PV ER orders are required.  Please refer to the compensation plan explanation to find out more.
5. Get a tax break.  If you are building a business, you can write off $100 per month since it is required to receive all the compensation available.
6. Get all the benefits even if you don’t want a business. If you are interested in savings for personal use but not interested in a business, all these benefits are still available. Except the tax write off, of course.
7.  Peppermint Party bonuses.  As an incentive, bonuses are often offered to active Peppermint Peeps.  Keep an eye out for these.  This month, all new ER members and current ER members with 100PV are entered into a drawing to win a free Joy essential oil blend.

Stay oily, my friends!

Understanding the Young Living Compensation Plan

Outside the Cave

The Young Living Compensation Plan…EXPLAINED!

Let’s say you are like me. You decided to purchase Young Living Essential Oils, received your Everyday Oils Collection and product catalog, and then a light bulb went off in your head. You thought, “Wow. These are really great. Maybe I should sell them so I can get them for free.” Then you thought, “Hmm…I wonder if I could even make some decent money AND get them for free!” So you took a look at this wonderful graphic highlighting the multifaceted, genius, and generous Young Living Compensation Plan. You understood it perfectly, right? Well, if you are anything like me, WRONG. Once you understand the basic components, the graphic is great. But without explanation, not so much.

In my quest to understand, I asked my upline and my upline’s upline’s upline a lot of questions. I emailed customer service. Then I did something radical…
